Lynn Hershman Leeson in Second life

Lynn Hershman Leeson will talk about her work in a 'Second Life Symposium' organised by the Whitworth Art Gallery at The University of Manchester on 24 November.
The symposium will take place in the virtual world, in the first conference of its kind at a UK university gallery.
A Hershman Leeson computer generated figure - or avatar - will talk with experts, artists and admirers from around the world at special computer terminals set up at the Whitworth. She'll also be at the Whitworth in the flesh.

Lynn Hershman Leeson: Autonomous Agents A Real and Second Life Symposium will be on Saturday 24 November between 3.30pm - 4.30pm GMT in Second Life.

Speakers include Prof Gabriella Giannachi (Centre for Intermedia, Exeter University), Prof Amelia Jones (University of Manchester), Prof Nick Kaye (Centre for Intermedia, Exeter University) and Michael Shanks, Faculty Fellow (Stanford Humanities Center, California) as well as the artist herself - Lynn Hershman Leeson.

It is in collaboration with The Performing Presence Project, a partnership between the University of Manchester, University of Exeter, Stanford University and University College London. Performing Presence is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), UK with the support of Stanford Humanities Lab, California. Visit: http://presence.stanford.edu/
